2019 AA Ontario Regional Conference (ORC), March 1 – 3, 2019

The ACA Hospitality Suite at the 2019 AA Ontario Regional Conference was a tremendous success!

On March 1st – 3rd,  for the 8th consecutive year, our suite invited all to come out for fun and fellowship.  We held three open meetings for returning fellow travelers and new guests. There was literature sold and lots of generously donated delicious snacks consumed.  Our presence, once again at this year’s AA ORC has allowed us to carry the message and has resulted in growth within our Fellowship. We extend an enormous THANK YOU to the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this a seamless event!  This weekend could not be successful without your commitment to service.

We look forward to sharing fun and fellowship with everyone again next year at the 2020 AA ORC; taking place from March 20th – 24th at the Sheraton Centre located at 123 Queen Street West!!

2018 ACA Annual Holiday Dinner & Meeting, December 25, 2018

The 27th Annual ACA Fellowship Holiday Dinner was another huge success!

There was an abundance of good food and amazing desserts prepared and generously donated by many. A huge THANK YOU to all our Fellow Travellers involved in organizing this event, which nourished our body and our souls.  Everything went smoothly from planning, to setting up, to cleaning up.

About 25 people attended the ACA Holiday meeting, and almost 50 people attended the holiday dinner.  Fellow Travellers from across our region joined the celebrations including York Region ACA in Aurora and the Seeds of Change ACA in Belleville.

New for this year was the raffle.  Our Fellow Travellers donated a number of small gifts (DVDs, handmade jewelry, etc.). The ACA Regional Intergroup Greater Toronto & Area donated Tim Horton’s gifts cards for a total of $50. Everyone enjoyed the draw, and there were enough gifts for everyone.

There was a great atmosphere during the dinner and the draw.  We sang “Jingle Bells” in English and in French (“Vive le Vent”).  We even had a Holiday Tree!

Some attended a movie afterward and continued fellowship.

A generous 7th Tradition was collected during the meeting and the dinner. The Intergroup donated $200 to the Church of the Redeemer.  We are extremely grateful they have provided the space to hold our ACA Holiday meeting and dinner for the past 27 years.

Looking forward to seeing you all again next year!

Ready-Set-GO!! 1-Day Workshop, November 17, 2018

Ready Set GO!! is an introduction for ACA newcomers to become familiar with the ACA Twelve Steps, and get clarity and an understanding of the ACA Program. Ready Set GO!! introduces the experienced member to a renewal of their commitment to working their program through the ACA 12 Steps. Ready Set GO!! prepares members for when they will feel ready to go to the ACA 12 Steps Workbook.

The Ready Set GO!! program has been in development for over 8 years, and presented in United States. The material is taken from the ACA Big Red Book, the ACA 12 Steps Workbook, and ‘Strengthening My Recovery’, the ACA meditation book. David S. and Kayla C. from Fitchburg, Wisconsin, introduced it for the first time in Canada, on November 17, 2018.

70 people attended the workshop at St. David’s Anglican Church. They went through the newly developed Ready Set GO!! workbook, started filling in the worksheets for every step, and shared in small groups. At the very end, the facilitator took the participants through an “Inner Child / Loving Parent” exercise, using meditation and writing or drawing with the non-dominant hand. The workshop was a powerful experience!!

Many volunteers stepped up and helped out before and during the event. Much gratitude to all our volunteers, and to the workshop facilitators, David S. and Kayla C.

3rd ACA Annual World Convention in Toronto April 27 – 29, 2018

ACA 2018 ConventionThe 2018 ACA Annual Business Conference (ABC) and Annual World Convention was an amazing success! Thank you to all who volunteered their time and attended,  it was greatly appreciated!

For the ABC we had about 72 delegates and another 20-25 guests registered. For the AWC we had about 330 registered from 10 countries. We received a great deal of positive feedback locally and globally, best convention ever, loved the hotel, the program, the music and the fun activities were so healing, many aha moments and yes – processing our laundry list traits during and after the convention with all of our ACA recovery tools.

It’s not too late to listen to the 2018 AWC sessions, there are downloads of the workshops and keynote speaker sessions for purchase as well as several free handouts and powerpoint presentations. Go to the convention website, www.acaworldconvention.org and click AWC Program.

It has been our honour and pleasure in hosting this wonderful 2018 ACA World Convention in Toronto. We look forward to supporting and attending the 2019 ABC & AWC in Malmo, Sweden!!

Thank you, the 2018 ACA World Convention Team

2018 ACA Annual Business Conference April 26 & 27, 2018

This year’s Annual Business Conference {ABC} was held from April 26 & 27, 2018 Approximately 72 Delegates conducted the business of the World Service Office [WSO] by going through committee reports and learning how WSO manages our finances and concerns. All Delegates were introduced to the current Board of Trustee who are entrusted with the day to day operation of ACA WSO. Some Delegates were first timers while others were returning Delegates. All attendees saw how the business side of the program works and how the 12 Traditions &12 Concepts work to keep our program going forward. Some new things were introduced and tried:
1] It was decided that the Chairperson of the meeting will be voted on at least 1 to 2 months prior to the meeting in an effort to help them get better acquainted with the steps, concepts and procedures. Previously the Chair was voted at the start of the ABC.
2] This year the ABC was broadcast by Wi-Fi to members around the world. A few members were asked to try remote voting, It is in hoped that this may be done in the future.

Some Delegates saw how the voice of the minority can change the votes of the majority and all come out smiling. Working and doing service work at all levels of the inverted triangle can be both frustrating and rewarding at the same time as was evident by the Delegates at this years ABC.

If you are interested to any of the service committees at the WSO contact and submit your name, choice of committee to acatorontofellowship@gmail.com

“On a personal note I have found service work has not only helped my program but it has enhanced and strengthened my recovery.”

Royal YorkOn March 9-11, 2018 ACA was at the Royal York Hotel Toronto, for the 75th annual Ontario Regional Conference (ORC) of Alcoholics Anonymous.

During the conference, 150 guests visited our suite. Some were members of ACA from 25 years ago in the early days of our fellowship in Toronto. We had some great conversations with members and newcomers. Great connections were made for the future.

Many thanks to our volunteers who generously provided tea, coffee and snacks. See you again next year!

2017 ACA Annual Holiday Dinner & Meeting, December 25, 2017
